Soapy Joe’s, the beloved and family-friendly car wash, hosts its annual Soapy Joe’s Day and offers the entire San Diego community free car wash and a chance to support three local charities. This 7th year, the third Thursday in April, has been dubbed “Soap Joe Day,” as incumbent mayors have been announcing since 2016 with Faulkner, to Gloria in 2021 and this year was presented by Councilman Raoul A. Campillo.
Your choice is important
Every year, the beloved Car Wash Institute celebrates its eco-friendly practices, provides first-class laundry for free to the community and chooses a local charity to receive a donation. This year, Soapy Joe’s has selected three worthy groups and asks: Where do you want to see Soapy Joe’s investment in our common community? The participating charities represent a variety of interests and are: Helen Woodward Animal Center, Recruitment Project Support (STEP) and the Emilio Nars Foundation.
“We always say we love our communities, and this year, we want to directly reflect their preferences about where our donations to charity go. This is a great way to give voice to our friends and those who enjoy free washing,” said Lawrence Atisha, founder and CEO of Soapy Joe’s.
A family-owned car wash company has pledged a total donation of $ 15,000 in memory of Joe’s Soap Day. This donation will be divided into three parts: the organization that receives the most community votes will receive $ 10,000, and the two instead will receive $ 2,500 each.
Three charities to choose from
Community building is essential to Soapy Joe’s, which has proudly supported San Diego over the past 11 years by donating more than 100,000 free washes and $ 2 million in cash donations to date. This year, Soapy Joe’s has carefully selected a number of charities that support local children, the military community and animals; Everyone is close to the heart of the Soapy Joe team.
The three charities include the Emilio Nars Foundation, an organization that provides free transportation for low-income children struggling with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses to get to and from their medical appointment recyclers; STEP (Support the Recruiting Project), to assist in building financial independence among recruited members in junior active role and recently recruited veterans and their families facing financial crisis through counseling, education and grants; And the Helen Woodward Animal Center, a local nonprofit in San Diego where “people help animals and animals help people.”
